Butterfly in Traffic

Butterfly in Traffic is an all Original rock group based in Chicago, IL. They formed in 2009, and play a folksy blend of rock and blues. Led by the lead vocals and guitar of Ed Gershon, BIT also features the bass anchor of Matt Moreno, the rollicking drums of Grant Niebergall and the jazz/rock lead guitar of Thomas Ott. Their recent full length release ‘Constant State of Motion’ is now available on iTunes!

Tom is inspired to play and write by Van Morrison, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Tom Waits, Kurt Vonnegut, Charles Bukowski, Ben Allison, George Orwell, James Joyce, Bob Dylan, Manu Dibango, Moacir Santos, Steely Dan, Brian Blade, Weather Report, Bill Frisell, Jaga Jazzist, Keith Jarrett, Frank Zappa, Paul Motian, and many others.

Matt has been playing music for over 15 years and was first inspired by listening to his dad play the drums while growing up in Sterling, IL. Music has always been a part of Matt’s life and he hopes to continue the trend to his own kids. Some of Matt’s influences are, but not limited to, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, Earth Wind & Fire, James Brown, Prince, Coldplay, The Police, Jaco Pastorius, Miles Davis, Pink Floyd, Medeski Martin & Wood, Bob Dylan, and Jeff Buckley
